Newcastle International School offers a curriculum (based on its school’s mission and educational values) that recognises and celebrates the uniqueness of each child and the diverse ways in which each child develops and learns.
We nurture every child as an effective learner, allowing for breadth and depth of learning, offering challenge and enjoyment, personalisation and choice, through a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum, rich in opportunities and experiences. Learning is meaningful for all children, connects with their wider lives, promoting independence and interdependence, and empowering them to meet life’s challenges as 21st Century learners.
Through our teaching we equip children with the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to be able to make informed choices about the important things in their lives. We believe that appropriate teaching and learning experiences help children to lead happy and rewarding lives. This policy highlights classroom practices and procedures that promote high quality teaching and learning.
There is also a wide range of co-curricular and extracurricular activities that the school organises in order to enrich the experience of the children. It also includes the “hidden curriculum”, or what the children learn from the way they are treated and expected to behave, respectful of themselves and of others in our school, community and the wider world.
